Mi madre emigró de Medellín, Colombia cuando tenía 18 años. Estas somos nosotras en 30. Wallace Pl, donde vivimos durante sus primeros años en el país. Vivíamos en un apartamento estrecho porque era todo lo que podíamos pagar. Sin embargo, siempre hubo amor, música y risas. Enfrentamos muchos desafíos pero mami nunca se dio por vencida. Trabajó y sacrificó tanto tiempo lejos de mí para poder mantener a su familia en Colombia. De niña no lo entendía bien pero hoy cuando la miro, todo lo que veo es una Reina, mi Mujer Maravilla y la más Compasiva. Ella es mi motivación. Te amo mami.
My mother migrated from Medellín, Colombia when she was 18. This is us at the infamous 30. Wallace Pl, where we lived during her early years in the country. We lived in a crowded apartment because it’s all we could afford. Although we struggled, there was always love, music and laughter. We faced many challenges but mami never gave up. She worked and sacrificed so much time away from me to be able to provide for her family back home. As a child, I didn't quite understand it but today when I look at her, all I see is a Queen, Superwoman, Hustler and the most Compassionate woman. She is my motivation. Te amo mami.
